We love a good reason to celebrate, and when we found out about Women’s Healthy Weight Day on January 19th, we jumped for joy! No, really, we did; because this is precisely the kind of thing JUST BETTER BRANDS stands for!
We want everyone to focus more on achieving a healthy weight and less on the never ending diet loop and watching numbers on a scale. (The entire just better.® fiber crew has been there!)

focusing more on reaching and maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle!
1.) STOP SAYING, “I’M ON A DIET.”
START SAYING, “I’M MAKING BETTER CHOICES!”
We know that diets can have good results initially, but most of us gain all the weight back, sometimes more.
Stop blaming yourself when the new fad diet plan fails. Diets simply do not work long-term.
What works are intentional and consistent healthy lifestyle choices like:
- Finding what type of exercise/movement works for you
- Staying hydrated
- Eating a wide variety of fruits & veggies, and whole, unprocessed foods
- Reducing sugar, and
- Adding more fiber to your diet.
2.) COUNT ALL YOUR WINS!
Things do not happen overnight. Gain momentum by acknowledging your progress; celebrate all your wins. Mark them down on a calendar to stay inspired and motivated and to track your progress in real-time!
So, what can be a win?
Did you throw away that unhealthy snack calling for you in the pantry? WIN!
Did you meet your hydration goals? WIN!
Did you eat more veggies today than yesterday? WIN!
Did you take a walk around the block? WINE! Oops, we mean WIN! ;)
Acknowledge all your wins - every day. Review them each week. You’re making progress towards a healthier you!
3.) GIVE YOURSELF GRACE. GET SUPPORT.
Starting on a healthy living journey takes practice. We sometimes get off track. What makes the difference is recalibrating and getting back in the game. Everyone hits a rough patch, especially in the beginning.
Guess what wipes out motivation to keep going? Negative self-dialog! Give yourself grace.
Turn down the mean voice and turn up the tunes! Dance it off! Keep going.
Look into finding mutual support from others making healthy lifestyle changes. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. Reach out to loved ones, find online groups, look for meet-ups in your community focused on healthy living, and/or take a whole food cooking class!
4.) MAKE HEALTHY OPTIONS MORE ACCESSIBLE.
When you reach for that prepackaged, sugar-loaded muffin instead of a healthier option for breakfast, you feel like crap physically, and then dwell on making poor choices for the rest of the day. (Been there?)
BUT, if you take time to prep your food for the days ahead, healthy options become more accessible. You’re less likely to eat ultra-processed, sugary foods, and you’ll feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally.
5.) GET ENOUGH FIBER
Chances are, you’re not getting enough fiber in your diet. This causes us to have unstable weight management and poor gut health.

How much fiber do we need? A good guideline is to shoot for 30 grams of fiber every day to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, balance blood sugars, and lower cholesterol.
